Free Falling

http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/song/Flj+Tav+K/12833528

The greatest warrior of all now falls
to his knees and shelters his hearts crumbling walls
he pulls out the sword from his torso, and hears the ribs crack
to much energy to reach the arrows still in his back

his world once eutopia, now lies post-armaggedon
all the buildings ablaze, and the sand is now reddened
the country he once loved is now overrun
by pride selfishness and anger that leaks from the slums

he watched his father fall right before his eyes
he had accidentally slashed him while fighting unwise
his only friend now drained away lifeless
the rest of his family soon dragged away by the darkness

he screamed for his comrades but most turned their heads
a few shot at him, afraid that he too was to dread
when he had saved all he could and then stood alone
he got out of dodge hacking, slaying away from his home

now on the hill that stood aside the city in sin
caring not to look back, knowing what lied within
now on his knees that also withdrew their allegiance
his body the last thing that had spared him total grievance

one arm pressuring the wound, the other edging him higher
his blood glowing a red gold, from the reflection of fire
still it could not match the flicker in his eyes with which he defied passing
many times he was tempted but each time pushed on laughing

he paused for a moment and rolled to his side
a dangerous break in his life or death stride
he dipped his finger in his chest, felt his heart raging vile
and drew on one cheek an uncracked heart and a smile

for even in dying they could not keep him down
while fools complained of broken hearts with self-pitying frowns
but alas he kept crawling he was almost out of time
he never stopped for long throughout life, lest it leave him behind

one step ahead was his motto and rule
it was how he battled life's hardships while keeping his cool
but his purpose was up and he'd said his last prayer
thanked his Lord for the experience and swore to meet Him in the air

in the air was his goal, his mission was almost complete
for at the edge of the hill lay a cliff for thousands of feet
his lungs grew heavy, he was coughing up blood
he unstrapped and threw his gear off, never hearing the thud

he mustered the strength to gain footing once more
he spit, then he smiled, and he threw himself o'er
he twirled in the air like a leaf in the autumn
even in his death he never hit rock bottom

for fear was his motivator [he was afraid of heights], it drove him thru hellfire
he was still falling in mad euphoria when his time expired
the thick grunged scarred heart now shone his purity through the walls
as it hammered one last beat, he only wanted to fall...
